  4.     As host of her own talk show, Oprah Winfrey knows how to handle
  5. controversy. That skill came in handy as she produced a TV movie
  6. based on Gloria Naylor's novel The Women of Brewster Place. The
  7. four-hour drama, which airs over ABC in March, cast several popular
  8. black actresses as neighbors struggling through a '50s urban
  9. tenement. Among them, posing with Oprah, are Cicely Tyson, Robin
  10. Givens, Lonette McKee, Jackee and Lynn Whitfield. More than once,
  11. Oprah, who made the movie before her famous diet, had to cool
  12. things when egos heated up. Recalls Jackee: "I said to Oprah, `In
  13. years to come, you'll learn how to be a diva just like the rest of
  14. us.'"  But Oprah knows that too many divas can spoil the plot.
